The cooperation of JICA is not new to the people of Ethiopia, many projects that have significant economic impact has been done. Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) is one of the beneficiaries of JICA support. JICA has been collaboratively working with AAWSA for the last four years through ongoing technical cooperation projects to strengthen AAWSA for NRW reduction and capacity building.
So far 32 experts and management staffs have been trained in Japan. AAWSA has gained the bounty of skill and knowledge from Kitakyushu Water & sewerage bureau over a decade.
- The training has been given valuable skill and knowledge in this regard,
- It gave motivation for the management and experts (shown how far AAWSA need to go)
- It enhanced knowledge of costumer information management and revenue
- It helped to explore applicable technologies and administrative system
- And put a foundation for the future cooperation between JICA and AAWSA
Therefore, the learning program would help to open an eye for the management team to sensitize the NRW management of Addis Ababa city in reference to the Japanese ways of changing the story from where it was. Therefore, the AAWSA management will commit on the behalf of Addis Ababa city administration to transform strategically the NRW reduction management effort across all the branches by scaling up the out-put of the ongoing project with in the coming five years.
